The attempts to solve this problem have usually been herbicidal algae destroyers, which also damage pond plants. Plant products are usually nitrate/phosphate fertilizers, which also promote algae blooms. Parasites and infestations are most often approached with pond salts, which are harmful to plants.

Pond pH Buffer™ and Pond Acid Buffer™ are non-phosphate buffers that will not support algae proliferation, but will enhance the growth of pond plants. Both are environmentally friendly and easy to use. Pond pH Buffer™ is designed to raise and maintain pond pH in the range of 7.4–7.6. Pond Acid Buffer™ is designed to lower pH and is particularly useful in concrete ponds.
Pond PhosGuard™ is a non-herbicidal, environmentally sound, approach to the problem of algae control in ponds. It is a filter adsorbent that removes phosphates, silicates, and organic nutrients and thus starves the algae without harm to plants. Pond Flourish™ is a comprehensive micronutrient supplement containing iron, magnesium, manganese, calcium, potassium, cobalt, inositol, choline, vitamin B12, biotin, and other factors that stimulate the growth of pond plants without inducing algae proliferation. Since fish provide more than adequate phosphate and nitrate, these fertilizers are not included in Pond Flourish™. The product is so concentrated that a 2 liter size treats up to 100,000 gallons.

Pond HealthGuard™ is a water disinfectant that will not damage the biological Älter or pond plants. It is well tolerated by fish. It contains no dye based disinfectants that can discolor the water or quaternary disinfectants that foam. It self destructs to harmless compounds within 24 hours of use. This product can be used without the removal of plants or time consuming water changes.
Pond Prime™ is a pond version of Seachem’s popular Prime™, designed to remove and control chlorine, chloramine, and ammonia, as well as detoxify nitrite. Pond Prime™ is safe, economical, and fully compatible with all other Water Garden Oasis™ products. A 2 liter size treats up to 40,000 gallons.
Pond Matrix™ is a fused porous aggregate that provides for highly concentrated and efficient aerobic and anaerobic biological filtration for the removal and control of ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. Pond Matrix™ is also well suited for use as a root substrate for pond plants. Plants root prolifically into its porous structure, resulting in vigorous long term growth. This allows for the culture of pond plants without the disadvantages of muddy soils.
